Aaliyah Gilbert, LSW

I chose this work with intention. My passion for therapy comes from understanding how much people carry, often silently, while still trying to function in their everyday lives. I have always been drawn to creating a space where clients feel safe enough to be honest, vulnerable, and supported without judgment.

As a Black woman, I understand how layered life can be. In a world where many are expected to be “strong Black women,” I intentionally create a therapy space where you do not have to hold everything together. Therapy with me is a place where you can be soft, where you can fall apart if needed, and where you will be supported as you begin to rebuild. I believe in meeting clients where they are and walking alongside them as they navigate healing and self-discovery.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and went on to complete my Master’s degree in Social Work, with a focus on clinical practice and mental health therapy. My training emphasized working with underserved communities and providing culturally responsive, trauma-informed care. I am grounded in evidence-based approaches while also prioritizing identity, culture, and lived experience in the healing process.

My clinical experience includes community mental health, outpatient therapy, and crisis intervention. I have worked with teens, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Through this work, I support clients in building coping skills, strengthening emotional regulation, and developing a deeper understanding of themselves.

I focus on supporting clients through life transitions and emotional adjustment, whether that involves entering a new stage of life, navigating relationship changes, or finding stability during uncertain times. I also have a focused interest in perinatal mental health, supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum changes, and identity shifts related to motherhood. In addition, I specialize in sex therapy, creating a safe, nonjudgmental space for women to explore intimacy, self-confidence, body awareness, and connection.

I work especially well with teens and young adults adjusting to new environments and expectations, as well as couples seeking to improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional and physical connection.

My approach to therapy is rooted in authenticity and connection, creating a space where clients can show up exactly as they are. I use a client-centered, trauma-informed approach and integrate evidence-based practices tailored to each individual or couple. While I take this work seriously, I also believe there is room for lightness along the way. Healing is not linear, and I strive to create an environment where clients feel both supported and empowered.

At this stage in my life, I value community and genuine connection, both personally and professionally. Outside of therapy, I enjoy reading and Pilates, which help me stay grounded and balanced.
