Dr. Toyah Wilson, Psy.D.

Dr. Wilson is a licensed Clinical Psychologist. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from the University of Illinois- Champaign-Urbana. Dr. Wilson earned her Master’s and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology.

Dr. Wilson has over 20 years of experience providing culturally competent therapy to adolescents and adults through individual, couples and group therapy. She has an extensive career working in university counseling centers as Training Director and as a practitioner in private practice. Dr. Wilson’s professional experience has included overseeing the training and supervision of Master’s, Doctoral and Post Doctorate level psychology students. In addition, Dr. Wilson provides consultation and training on topics related to women’s concerns, trauma, and diversity. She has presented and been on panels to address the mental health and wellness of women of color, stress management in the workplace, generational trauma and destigmatizing mental illness and treatment.

Her relational style is collaborative and supportive as she seeks to provide a warm and safe space to empower her clients. Dr. Wilson specializes in the treatment of trauma, depression, anxiety, identity, relationships and life transitions. She is certified as a practitioner of EMDR. Dr. Wilson operates from a holistic perspective and integrates mindfulness practices into her clinical work while also using psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy to inform her interventions.
